About the brand
Mahara Mindfulness was founded on a mission to inspire humanity to live more mindfully — and founded at the worst possible moment. Sheba Zaidi and Genevive Savundranayagam left decade-long corporate communications careers in 2020 to build a mindfulness business around live events; weeks later, the pandemic made that model impossible. The Toronto co-founders pivoted to thoughtfully designed tools: journals and reflection products that make the practices they credit for their own resilience accessible in everyday life. The company's origin is also its argument: mindfulness isn't a luxury practice but essential equipment for hard times. Mahara built the products it wished existed when its founders needed them most. A business born of disruption that now sells calm for a living.
