About the brand
Craig Ryomoto grew up inside the problem he's now solving: his parents co-owned Ota-Ya, a Japanese restaurant in Richmond, BC, where he learned that great food can still fail if the right people never find it. After years helping scale Canadian tech companies like Hootsuite, Bench and Thinkific, he founded Umamii in Vancouver in 2023 to make restaurant discovery personal and trustworthy. The platform connects diners with restaurants they'll genuinely love, and restaurants with the customers most likely to become regulars. It's a recommendation layer built from both sides of the table: the economics of the kitchen and the appetite of the diner. Umamii is a restaurateur's son building software for the industry that raised him. Few founders have better standing to try.
