About the brand
Nina Kharey founded FOLDS in Calgary in 2021 to build premium healthcare apparel for people who lead in medicine, not just work in it. Her path ran through engineering, then a pivot to fashion after losing her brother, then the womenswear label Nonie (worn by celebrities, like Meghan Markle) and a pandemic pivot to PPE that exposed how poorly healthcare apparel served the people wearing it. FOLDS answered with considered design and a small all-female team now moving toward $100,000 in monthly revenue, all without ever discounting. It treats scrubs and medical apparel with the seriousness usually reserved for runway fashion. Kharey built a brand out of loss, pivots and a refusal to accept 'good enough for work.' FOLDS is dressing the profession that dresses Canada's wounds.
