About the brand
437 makes activewear and swimwear for women who refuse to choose between how a piece looks and how it performs. Hyla Nayeri and Adrien Bettio founded the Toronto brand in 2016 out of their shared house during their final year at Queen's University — with no fashion credentials, no manufacturing background and no outside funding. What they had was intimacy with their customer, because they were the customer, and they learned fit, sourcing and operations in real time. That ground-up knowledge built a brand with a devoted following and international reach. Every design is engineered to flatter and function simultaneously, a duality the incumbents long treated as a trade-off. 437 is a case study in what two founders with conviction can build without permission.
