Barbet exists because one sister stopped drinking and the other refused to accept what was left on the shelf. Andrea Grand co-founded the Toronto sparkling-beverage company in 2021 after her sister's 2020 seizure ended her relationship with alcohol — and revealed a market of sugary mocktails and juvenile sparkling waters where a real adult drink should be. From two retail accounts and deliveries out of the back of a car, Barbet has scaled to nearly 900 Canadian stores, a national distributor, 41 percent year-over-year growth and profitability. It donates to four charity partners and stays rooted in the grassroots communities that built it.
