About the brand
The tequila industry produces 1.5 million tons of agave waste a year; foodservice is stuck choosing between plastics that pollute for centuries and paper that fails on contact. The Sustainable Agave Company, founded in Toronto in 2019, set out to solve both problems at once: upcycling agave fibre into high-performance straws, cutlery and foodservice essentials in biodegradable, certified-compostable and ocean-recyclable formulations. The products hold up where paper fails, and disappear where plastic persists. It's circular-economy thinking engineered into the objects nobody thinks about until they collapse mid-drink. The company is proving a Canadian cleantech firm can turn an industry's waste stream into its supply chain. It's solving two environmental problems with a single product line — the definition of leverage.
