About the brand
After 13 years as a teacher and principal, Ritu Jhaveri had watched too many brilliant kids disengage because their lessons never felt real. She founded Deschool in Toronto in 2022 to bring the real world into K-12 classrooms — experiential programs like Urban Farming and Agritech workshops where students grow food and learn alongside working industry experts, rather than reading about them in textbooks. The model treats careers education as something to touch, taste and build, closing the gap between curriculum and the world students are actually entering. Deschool has grown from a school-gym pilot into a company rethinking how Canadian kids learn what work even is. It answers disengagement with something textbooks can't offer: consequence and contact. It's education rebuilt around the real.
